Safaricom’s Skiza Tunes service lets you personalize your ring-back tone with music or voice clips, at a daily charge. It’s available to both prepaid and postpaid customers on local networks. While the service adds flair to your calls, there are legitimate reasons someone might choose to remove or deactivate it—whether to cut costs, simplify the experience, or revert to a standard ring tone.

Why You May Want to Unsubscribe

  • Daily charges of KSh 1.50 add up quickly, especially if you’re subscribed to multiple tunes or no longer enjoy the selection
  • Subscription may have been activated accidentally via promotional links or prompts
  • You may prefer a regular ring tone for a more professional or neutral image
  • Some users simply desire a cleaner mobile experience without supplementary services

How to Cancel Skiza Tunes

Option 1: USSD Method (Fastest Way)

  1. Dial *811# on your Safaricom number.
  2. Select Manage Skiza Tunes or My Skiza Tunes menu.
  3. Choose the specific Skiza tune you want to delete.
  4. Confirm the deletion.
  5. You will receive an SMS confirming that the tune has been removed.
  6. Repeat these steps to remove additional tunes if necessary.

Option 2: SMS Way

  1. Open your messaging app and send: DELETE [Skiza Tune Code] to 811 (e.g., DELETE 5050005).
  2. If you don’t remember the code, send just DELETE to 811.
  3. You will get an SMS confirming removal of that tune.
  4. To remove multiple active tunes, send separate messages per tune.

Note: Skiza tune charges are non-refundable, even if canceled before the end of the billing period.

Option 3: MySafaricom App

  1. Launch the MySafaricom App and log in.
  2. Navigate to the Skiza Tunes section under “My Tunes” or subscriptions.
  3. Select the tune(s) you want to remove.
  4. Tap to unsubscribe or deactivate.
  5. You’ll receive confirmation once the process is complete.

Option 4: Contact Safaricom Customer Care

  1. Dial 100 and navigate voice or live support.
  2. Request removal of all active Skiza tunes on your line.
  3. An agent will process your request.
  4. You should receive an SMS confirmation within 24 hours.

How to Check Your Active Skiza Tunes

Dial *811#, then select the option labeled Manage Active Tunes to review all subscriptions and codes.

Tips to Avoid Re-Subscription

  • Regularly review subscriptions using *100# → My Subscriptions → Active Subscriptions
  • Avoid clicking on promotional pop-ups or messages offering free content
  • Disable auto-renew settings where possible
  • Use *456# to stop premium SMS and promotional content opt-ins

When Does Your Ring Tone Return to Normal?

Once you successfully unsubscribe, the standard ringing tone should resume within a few hours—though it can take up to 24 hours in some cases. Your daily KSh 1.50 charge will stop immediately.
