How to Register, Check, Redeem, and Transfer Safaricom Bonga Points

Safaricom Bonga Points is a loyalty program available to both PrePay and PostPay subscribers. Once you register, you earn one Bonga Point for every KSh 10 spent on voice calls, SMS, or data. These points can be redeemed for airtime, data bundles, SMS, talk time, merchandise, Kenya Airways tickets, and more. You can also transfer points to friends or family using the USSD menu.

How to Register for Bonga Points

  1. Dial *126# from your Safaricom number.
  2. Select the Enroll option on the menu.
  3. Follow the prompts upon completion, you’ll receive an SMS confirmation and 30 bonus Bonga Points if you provide your personal information at a Safaricom outlet or through customer service.

You’ll begin earning points immediately for all qualifying spending.


Setting or Changing Your Bonga PIN

For PrePay subscribers:

  • Dial *126# and select option 5 (or dial *126*5# directly).
  • Choose Set New PIN or Change PIN.
  • Enter your National ID, the amount of your last top-up, and then your new four-digit PIN. Confirm to complete.

For PostPay subscribers:

  • Call Safaricom customer care at 200 from your Safaricom line.
  • Your Bonga PIN will be set automatically.

A PIN is required for redeeming or transferring points securely.


How to Check Your Bonga Balance

  • Dial *126# and choose option 2 (Check Bonga Points).
  • A flash message will appear showing your balance, and you will receive an SMS confirmation.

How to Redeem Bonga Points

  1. Dial *126# and select Redeem Bonga Points (option 3).
  2. Choose from categories such as airtime, SMS, data bundles, Kenya Airways tickets, gadgets, and more.
  3. Follow prompts to redeem desired value and confirm your selection. A confirmation SMS is sent after redemption.

You can also use Lipa na Bonga Points via merchants and Paybill numbers to pay for goods and serviceseither using points alone or combining points and cash.

How to Transfer (Sambaza) Bonga Points

  1. Ensure you have set your Bonga PIN.
  2. Dial *126#, select Transfer Bonga Points (option 6).
  3. Enter the recipient’s Safaricom number and the number of points to send (minimum 50 points).
  4. Confirm with your Bonga PIN.
  5. A confirmation SMS follows a successful transfer.
    You must have at least 100 points in your balance.

  • Flexi Bonga Phones: Use your points to fully or partially purchase devices at any Safaricom shop. Just dial *126# and explore option 8 (Flexi Bonga). 
  • Flight Redemptions: Kenya Airways domestic tickets are available via Bonga—typically around 28,000 to 40,000 points, depending on route. Confirm availability via Safaricom or KQ. 
  • Use of Points in Stores: With Lipa na Bonga, you can shop at participating retailers or PayBill merchants. Enter your Safaricom number and PIN at checkout.
