Tabasuri DT Sacco: Empowering Members Since 1983

Tabasuri DT Sacco is a licensed, member-owned financial cooperative dedicated to fostering the social and economic growth of its members. Established in 1983 by employees of the Kenya Marine & Fisheries Research Institute, the SACCO has expanded significantly, now serving over 14,000 members from diverse economic sectors across Kenya. With an asset base exceeding Kshs 450 million, Tabasuri continues to provide innovative financial solutions tailored to meet evolving member needs.

Who Can Join Tabasuri Sacco?

Membership is open to:

  • Individuals (18+ years) with regular income
  • Businesses and corporate organizations
  • Groups/Chamas (minimum 5 members)

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Must be within the SACCO’s field of membership
  2. Minimum age of 18 years for individuals
  3. Not a member of another salary-based SACCO
  4. Not engaged in money-lending activities
  5. Must be introduced by an existing member
  6. Must demonstrate good character
  7. Must pay the required entrance fee and minimum shares

Membership Requirements

1. Individual Membership

  • Copy of National ID or valid passport
  • Two passport-sized photographs
  • Copy of KRA PIN certificate
  • Registration fee: Kshs 1,000
  • Minimum FOSA account balance: Kshs 500
  • Initial monthly contributions: Kshs 1,240 (covers insurance, shares & deposits)

2. Group/Chama Membership

  • Certificate of registration (for registered groups)
  • Group constitution
  • IDs for office bearers
  • Minutes authorizing account opening (signed by chairperson & secretary)
  • Passport photos of signatories
  • Minimum 5 members
  • Weekly contribution: Kshs 435

3. Corporate Membership

  • Certificate of registration
  • Board resolution approving membership
  • KRA PIN certificate
  • Last audited financial statements
  • Directors’ IDs & specimen signatures
  • Registration fee: Kshs 2,500
  • Minimum monthly contribution: Kshs 2,000
