If you are a registered nurse in Gambia, it is important to renew your nursing license every year. The Nursing & Midwives Council of Gambia requires that you pay the prescribed licensing fees and submit a completed application form before your current license expires.

Step-by-Step Process for Renewing Your Gambian Nursing License:

  1. Collect the Application Form:
    Visit the Nursing & Midwives Council or local police station to collect the necessary application forms for renewing your nursing license.
  2. Fill Out the Form:
    Carefully complete the application form with all the required details. Don’t forget to sign the form once it’s completed.
  3. Attach Required Documents:
    Attach the following documents to your application form:
    • Completed Licensing form
    • Two recent identical colored passport photos with white backgrounds
    • A copy of your old license for renewal
    • Photocopies of certificates of registration
    • Certificate of attendance for Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme (MCPDP)
    • Original evidence of payment for all applicable fees
    • Any other supporting documentation requested by the authority
  4. Submit the Form:
    Submit the completed application form along with all required documents and payment to the Nursing & Midwives Council.
  5. Verification and Validation:
    After submission, the council will examine and verify your application. If everything is in order, the renewal process will proceed. If your application is rejected, you will be informed of the reason and your right to appeal.
  6. Collect Your Renewed License:
    Once your license is renewed, you will be notified via email or phone call. Make sure to bring proof of identification and surrender the expired license when collecting your new one.

Eligibility:

  • You must be registered with the Nursing & Midwives Council of Gambia.
  • You should have a valid nursing license that is due for renewal.
  • You must have a good reputation and no criminal record.

Fees:

  • The renewal fee for Gambian nationals is GMD 300.
  • For international applicants, the renewal fee is GMD 600.
  • A late fee of GMD 300 for nationals and GMD 600 for internationals will be charged if renewal is delayed.

Validity:

  • The nursing license is valid for one year. Failure to renew your license within 6 months of expiration will result in the cancellation of your registration, requiring you to begin the registration process again.

  • Full names of the applicant
  • Contact details (phone number, email address)
  • Nationality and identification details
  • Current license details (license number, expiry date)
  • Category of license being renewed
  • Declaration by the applicant regarding the information provided

Other Uses of the Nursing License:

Your nursing license serves as official proof of your qualification and is required for practicing nursing in Gambia. It can also be used for legal purposes, such as employment verification and professional reference.
