Applying for a National Identity Card in The Gambia involves a clear and straightforward process. This guide outlines the key steps, required documents, and eligibility criteria to ensure you can easily obtain your ID card.

Procedure to Apply for a National Identity Card in Gambia

To apply for your National Identity Card, you need to complete application form GID-001. Along with the form, you must submit original copies of the required supporting documents. The application fee is a non-refundable 200 Dalasi.

  • Applicants will be interviewed by an Immigration Officer.
  • Your photograph will be taken free of charge at the GAMBIS station.
  • After processing, you will be notified when your ID card is ready for pick-up.

Required Documents:
To complete the National Identity Card application, the following supporting documents are required:

  1. Birth Certificate
  2. Gambian Passport
  3. Voter’s Card
  4. Form GID-008 – District Seyfo/Alkalo Attestation Form
  5. Registration/Naturalization Certificate

Eligibility for National Identity Card Application

  • All Gambian citizens over 18 years of age are eligible to apply for the National Identity Card.

Fees for National Identity Card Application

  • The application fee for the National Identity Card is 200 Dalasi, which is non-refundable.

Validity of the National Identity Card

The National Identity Card issued under this process remains valid indefinitely unless otherwise stated by the government.
