Obtaining a Food Handler Certificate Uganda is a legal requirement for anyone working in the food industry, including restaurants, hotels, catering businesses, and food processing establishments. The certificate ensures that food handlers maintain the highest standards of hygiene and are medically fit to handle food safely.

Application Procedure

To apply for a Food Handler Certificate Uganda, candidates must visit the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) or the Ministry of Health offices. Applicants should contact the nearest office through the official contact channels provided on the Ministry or UNBS websites to confirm current requirements.

Once at the respective office, request the Food Handler Certificate application form. Fill in all mandatory details accurately, attach the required documents, and submit the application to the designated receiving authority.

Applicants may need to undergo a medical screening, which typically includes a blood test and chest X-ray to rule out communicable diseases. Some departments may also require the applicant to attend a food hygiene training session or take a short written test.
