Overview
Founded in January 1974 as the banking section of the Nyeri District Cooperative Union, Taifa Sacco was established to provide banking services to rural farmers in Nyeri who were part of cooperative societies. Initially serving 9,500 members, it grew significantly to 97,500 members by 1998, prompting its separation from the Nyeri District Cooperative Union to enhance efficiency. On January 29, 1998, it was registered as Nyeri Farmers Sacco Society, and on May 30, 2006, it rebranded to Taifa Sacco to reflect its expanded services and broader customer base. With an asset base of KES 4.57 billion, Taifa Sacco is one of Kenya’s leading deposit-taking Savings and Credit Co-operative Societies. Its head office is located at NCU Building on Gakere Road in Nyeri Town.
