About Sheria SACCO
Sheria SACCO is a registered Savings and Credit Cooperative Society that has been serving members since 1972. With a steadily growing membership of over 10,000 individuals and an impressive asset base of Ksh 8.51 billion, it ranks among Kenya’s most prominent deposit-taking SACCOs.
Founded with the aim of promoting financial empowerment among legal and public service professionals, Sheria SACCO has expanded its scope to include members from a wide range of professions and institutions.
Who Is Eligible to Join Sheria SACCO?
Sheria SACCO membership is open to individuals affiliated with various sectors, particularly within legal and public service domains. Below are the categories of eligible members:
Primary Eligibility:
- Employees, both current and former, of:
- The Judiciary
- The Office of the Attorney General
- Government ministries and departments
- Sheria SACCO, its subsidiaries, and projects
- Kenya School of Law
- All universities
- The Law Society of Kenya (LSK)
- Quasi-government agencies under the Judiciary or Attorney General’s Office
- Recognized non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
Extended Eligibility:
- Spouses or immediate family members of existing members
- Advocates of the High Court of Kenya
- Kenya School of Law students
- Certified Public Secretaries
- Approved businesses and institutions
- Any other individual employed by a Kenyan-registered organization who can consistently contribute and meet loan repayment obligations
Sheria SACCO Membership Requirements
To become a member, applicants must provide the following:
- A completed membership application form (available on the SACCO’s website)
- A copy of a valid National ID or passport
- A fully filled nominee card
- One passport-size photograph
- An entrance fee of Ksh 1,700, broken down as follows:
- Ksh 1,000 for registration
- Ksh 500 for opening a FOSA account
- Ksh 200 for Burial Benevolent Fund registration
