Southern Star Sacco traces its roots to the banking division of Meru South Cooperative Union Limited. Officially registered on 6th June 1994 (CS No. 7178), it began with just two branches. After earning its deposit-taking license from SASRA in 2010, the Sacco rebranded from Meru South Farmers Cooperative Society to Southern Star Sacco in 2014.

Today, it stands among Kenya’s leading financial cooperatives, boasting an asset base exceeding KSh 1.53 billion and serving members across Nairobi, Meru, and Tharaka Nithi counties.
