A Police Fingerprint Clearance Certificate in Uganda is issued to confirm an individual’s identity and verify that they have no criminal record. It is often required for employment, immigration, residence, or court purposes both locally and internationally. The certificate is processed through the Uganda Police Force or the National Central Bureau of Interpol Uganda, located in Kololo, Kampala.
Applicants can apply at any police station or directly through Interpol Headquarters. Foreign nationals who lived in Uganda are also eligible to apply, provided they include proof of residence and valid identification.
Procedure
Option 1: Apply at Any Police Station
- Visit the nearest Uganda Police Station.
- Request the fingerprint-taking form and have your fingerprints recorded by a police officer.
- Make all necessary payments at the nominated bank or payment counter.
- Once fingerprints are taken, the officer will stamp and seal the form with the police insignia.
- The form is then returned to you for submission or forwarding to Interpol Uganda for verification and processing.
Option 2: Apply at the National Bureau of Interpol Uganda
- Visit the Directorate of Interpol and International Relations, located in Kololo, Kampala.
- Fill out the application form for a Police Clearance Certificate.
- Proceed to the nominated bank to pay the prescribed fee (UGX 48,000).
- Have your fingerprints taken at the CID Headquarters in Kampala.
- The CID will perform a manual criminal record check and send the results to Interpol.
- Collect the clearance certificate from Interpol Headquarters and pay the final processing fee (UGX 3,000) upon collection.
Tip: Applicants living abroad may authorize a relative or representative in Uganda to apply on their behalf, provided the application includes a fingerprint verification certificate from a recognized police authority abroad.
