Discovering Nairobi Animal Orphanage: A Haven for Wildlife Rehabilitation

Established in 1964 within Nairobi National Park, the Nairobi Animal Orphanage serves as a critical rehabilitation center for injured and orphaned wildlife. Operated by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), this facility provides:

High Season (July-March)

Peak visitor months with optimal viewing conditions

  • Kenyan Residents & East Africans:
    Adults: Ksh 300 | Children (3-17 years): Ksh 200
  • Other African Visitors:
    Adults: $18 | Children: $12
  • International Visitors:
    Adults: $30 | Children: $20

Low Season (April-June)

Reduced rates with excellent viewing opportunities

  • Kenyan Residents & East Africans:
    Adults: Ksh 250 | Children: Ksh 150
  • Other African Visitors:
    Adults: $15 | Children: $10

The orphanage currently cares for over 20 species, including:

  1. Big Cats: Lions, cheetahs, leopards
  2. Special Species: Rare Sokoke cats, serval cats
  3. Primates: Various monkeys and baboons
  4. Birds: Crowned cranes, ostriches, parrots
  5. Other Wildlife: Hyenas, jackals, warthogs, buffaloes
