Procedure: How to Apply for a Milk Import Licence
Step 1: Visit the Dairy Development Authority
Go to the Dairy Development Authority (DDA) offices located at 1 Kafu Road, Kampala, during working hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). You may also contact the DDA via email at [email protected] to inquire about current requirements or updates.
Step 2: Request and Complete the Application Form
Approach the service desk and request the milk import licence application form. Read through the instructions carefully before completing it. Ensure that all information is accurate and up to date.
Step 3: Attach Required Documents
Attach the necessary documents, including:
- Certificate of Origin (from the exporting country)
- Distribution plan for the imported milk
- Total tonnage per consignment
- Veterinary Certificate of No Objection Permit issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries
Step 4: Submit Application
Submit the completed form and all attachments to the attending officer at the DDA. The officer will review the application to ensure completeness and compliance with import standards.
Step 5: Pay the Licence Fee
Proceed to pay the prescribed licence fee of UGX 2,000,000. The payment can be made through the DDA’s designated bank or payment system.
Step 6: Verification and Approval
Once payment is confirmed, DDA officials will verify all documentation and inspect the proposed import details. If all requirements are met, the licence will be processed within three (3) working days.
Step 7: Collect Your Licence

Validity
