LOLC Kenya Microfinance Bank—formerly known as Key Microfinance Bank—is among the 14 licensed deposit-taking microfinance banks regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). Since its inception in 2010, LOLC has focused on providing accessible financial services tailored to individuals, SMEs, and business communities across Kenya.

Following its rebrand, LOLC continues to operate a growing branch network with five physical branches and two marketing units, supported by digital and mobile banking platforms. Its head office is located at Westpark Towers, Mpesi Lane, off Muthithi Road, in Nairobi.


Loan Products Offered by LOLC Kenya Microfinance Bank

1. Asset Finance Loan

Designed for medium-scale businesses, this product helps clients acquire assets such as land, commercial vehicles, and personal cars.

  • Loan Amount: Ksh 50,000 – Ksh 5,000,000
  • Interest: 24% p.a. (Flat Rate)
  • Repayment: Monthly, includes principal and interest
  • Processing Fee: 3%
  • Eligibility:
    • Active bank account for at least 6 months
    • Minimum 1 year of business operation

2. Personal Loan

Targeted at individuals earning a regular income through salaries, business, or rental income.

  • Loan Amount: Ksh 50,000 – Ksh 1,000,000
  • Interest: 24% p.a. (Flat Rate)
  • Tenure: Up to 24 months
  • Processing Fee: 3%
  • Eligibility:
    • Must have an active bank account (6+ months)
    • Salaried clients must be past probation
    • Business clients require 1+ year operational history

3. Working Capital Loan

LOLC offers three flexible working capital solutions:

a) Short-Term Working Capital Loan
For covering immediate operational needs such as inventory and cash flow gaps.

  • Loan Amount: Ksh 50,000 – Ksh 3,000,000
  • Repayment: Monthly or bullet based on cash flow
  • Interest: 24% p.a. (Flat Rate)

b) Mid-Term Working Capital Loan
For businesses needing longer repayment periods for cash flow stability.

  • Same loan range and terms as above

c) Overdraft Facility
Offers short-term access to cash against account limits.

Eligibility for All:

  • Kenyan citizens (18+), partnerships, and limited companies
  • Minimum 6-month active bank account or proof of income
  • Business operational for at least 1 year
  • Current account with LOLC is required

Savings and Deposit Products

4. Taratibu Savings Account

A flexible savings account suitable for short-term financial goals.

  • Opening Balance: Ksh 500
  • Minimum Balance: Ksh 500
  • Mobile Banking Fee: Ksh 72
  • Charges apply for over-the-counter withdrawals

5. Lil’ Angel Junior Savings Account

Tailored for children below 18 years, operated by a parent or guardian.

  • Opening Balance: Ksh 1,000
  • Minimum Balance: Ksh 1,000
  • Interest Rate: 5% p.a.
  • One free withdrawal per quarter; charges apply thereafter

6. Jipange Budget Savings Account

Designed for planned future expenses such as school fees, weddings, and maternity costs.

  • Opening Balance: Ksh 5,000
  • Minimum Balance: Ksh 1,000
  • No limit on deposits
  • Half-yearly statements provided
  • Charges apply for over-the-counter withdrawals

7. Fixed Deposit Account

Ideal for clients looking to invest a lump sum for a defined period.

  • Minimum Amount: Ksh 25,000
  • Terms: 1, 3, 6, 9, or 12 months
  • Can be used as collateral for loans

8. Current Account

Suited for individuals and businesses needing transactional flexibility.

  • Opening Balance:
    • Ksh 2,000 (Personal)
    • Ksh 5,000 (Business)
  • Monthly Ledger Fee: Ksh 385
  • Free cheque withdrawals and internal standing orders
  • Mobile banking access at Ksh 72
  • No minimum operating balance
