Niokolee is a Safaricom airtime request service that enables prepaid users to ask another Safaricom user to send them airtime. It’s perfect when:

  • You don’t have enough funds to top up
  • You’re in an emergency and need to communicate fast

You can request amounts from KES 5 up to KES 100, and the person you ask will receive a prompt asking if they’d like to send you the airtime.

How to Use Safaricom Niokolee Step-by-Step

Here’s how to make a Niokolee airtime request from your Safaricom line:

Method 1: Using the USSD Code

  1. Dial *444#
  2. Select Option 5: Niokolee
  3. Choose “Request Airtime”
  4. Enter the Safaricom number you want to request airtime from
  5. Enter the amount (KES 5–100)
  6. Confirm the request

The recipient will get a prompt like:

“Niokolee! 0722XXXXXX is requesting KES 50 airtime from you. Accept? YES or NO.”

Once they accept, the airtime is transferred instantly!


Method 2: Through MySafaricom App

  1. Open your MySafaricom App
  2. Navigate to the Niokolee service
  3. Input the recipient’s number and amount
  4. Send the request
