Safaricom Faraja Loan is changing the way Kenyans shop and pay for services by introducing a Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) option with 0% interest. This point-of-sale credit service lets eligible M-PESA users purchase goods or pay for services instantly and repay the amount within a set period all without incurring any loan interest.

Faraja is designed to support everyday consumers by providing flexible access to credit when shopping at partner merchants, including major outlets like Naivas Supermarkets.

What Is Faraja Loan and How Does It Work?

Faraja is a digital credit product by Safaricom, supported by Equity Bank, that enables M-PESA users to make purchases or settle bills using a short-term loan, with the only cost being standard M-PESA transaction charges.

Here’s what makes Faraja unique:

  • No interest is charged on the loan amount
  • Choose between 7-day or 30-day repayment periods
  • Available for purchases ranging from Ksh 20 up to Ksh 100,000
  • Accessible only through selected partner outlets
  • Credit limit is based on your M-PESA usage and credit viability

Please note: New M-PESA customers are currently not eligible for Faraja. Only pre-qualified users with active Safaricom lines can access the service.

Where Can You Use Faraja?

Faraja loans can only be used at partner outlets, such as:

  • Naivas Supermarkets
  • Other participating merchants listed by Safaricom (regularly updated)

These merchants are equipped with point-of-sale (POS) systems that accept Faraja as a payment method.
