Pochi La Biashara is a revolutionary M-PESA service from Safaricom that enables small business owners to receive payments directly into a business wallet separate from their personal M-PESA account. It’s designed for informal traders like kiosk operators, boda boda riders, food vendors, and second-hand clothes (mitumba) sellers.

This guide explains how to register, withdraw funds, check your balance, and understand the applicable charges so you can manage your business cash flow more effectively.


How to Register for Pochi La Biashara

Getting started with Pochi La Biashara is quick, secure, and doesn’t require any paperwork.

Follow these steps:

  1. Dial *334# from your M-PESA-registered line
  2. Select “Pochi La Biashara”
  3. Choose “Join”
  4. Read and accept the Terms & Conditions
  5. Select your business category from the menu
  6. You’ll receive a confirmation SMS once registration is successful

Your Pochi La Biashara wallet is now active and ready to accept payments.


How to Access Funds in Pochi La Biashara

Once customers make payments to your business wallet, you can access the funds in two main ways:

a) Withdraw from an M-PESA Agent

  1. Dial *334#
  2. Select “Pochi La Biashara”
  3. Choose “Withdraw from Agent”
  4. Enter the Agent Number
  5. Input the amount you wish to withdraw
  6. Enter your M-PESA PIN to confirm

Standard M-PESA withdrawal charges will apply based on the transaction amount.

b) Transfer Funds to Your Personal M-PESA Account (Free)

  1. Dial *334#
  2. Select “Pochi La Biashara”
  3. Choose “Withdraw Funds”
  4. Select “From Pochi La Biashara to My M-PESA”
  5. Enter the amount and confirm using your M-PESA PIN

No charges apply when transferring from your business wallet to your personal M-PESA account.


Pochi La Biashara Charges for Customers

When a customer pays you through Pochi La Biashara, the standard M-PESA send money rates apply to them. As a business owner, you do not incur any charges to receive payments.

Tip: Let your customers know they’re paying standard M-PESA fees — not extra for using Pochi La Biashara.


How to Check Your Pochi La Biashara Balance

To check how much money is in your business wallet:

  1. Dial *334#
  2. Select “Pochi La Biashara”
  3. Choose “My Account”
  4. Select “Check Balance”
  5. Enter your M-PESA PIN

You’ll receive an SMS with your current balance.


Key Things to Note

  • Funds in your Pochi La Biashara wallet are protected from Fuliza deductions.
  • Payments cannot be reversed unless the business owner gives approval.
  • You earn a 5% commission for selling airtime through the wallet.
  • Transaction approvals and wallet access require your M-PESA PIN for added security.
  • The maximum daily transaction limit for both personal and business accounts combined is Ksh 300,000.
