How to Check Numbers Registered with Your ID in Kenya

As mobile fraud, identity theft, and SIM-related scams increase across the country, knowing which phone numbers are registered under your national ID is more important than ever. Fortunately, mobile operators in Kenya now offer simple ways for you to verify all active SIM cards linked to your identity.

Whether you’ve lost your phone before, suspect unauthorized registration, or simply want peace of mind, this guide explains how to check and take action—fast.

Why It’s Important to Know Numbers Registered with Your ID

Your National ID is the backbone of your digital identity in Kenya. Fraudsters may register mobile numbers under your name without your knowledge and use them for:

  • Mobile money fraud
  • Online scams
  • Criminal activity
  • Social engineering schemes

If such numbers are flagged, you could be held liable or blocked from services like M-PESA or Airtel Money.

That’s why mobile service providers, under the guidance of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK), have enabled all users to check and manage their SIM registrations with ease.

How to Check Registered Numbers with Your ID (Per Provider)

1. Safaricom Users

Safaricom has made the process very straightforward.

Steps:

  1. Dial *106# from your Safaricom line.
  2. Select Option 1: Check My Numbers
  3. You’ll receive a list of all phone numbers registered under your ID.

What You Can Do:

  • Report any unknown numbers.
  • Visit a Safaricom shop to deregister unauthorized SIMs.
  • Get a printed list upon request.

2. Airtel Kenya Users

Airtel has also enabled ID-SIM verification.

Steps:

  1. Dial *106# on your Airtel line.
  2. Choose Option 1: My Numbers
  3. Airtel will display the list of all numbers tied to your ID number.

What to Do If You See Unknown Numbers

If you discover numbers registered under your ID that you didn’t authorize:

  • Report immediately to your provider (Safaricom, Airtel, or Telkom)
  • Carry your original ID to the service centre
  • Request for the SIM(s) to be deregistered
  • File a report with the Communications Authority if needed

You can also get support through Huduma Centres or online via your provider’s customer service channels.

Protect Yourself from SIM Fraud

To avoid having more numbers fraudulently registered with your ID:

Wrap-Up: Stay in Control of Your Digital Identity

Staying aware of which numbers are tied to your ID is your first line of defense against mobile fraud. With just a simple USSD code, you can get a full list of registered numbers and ensure your identity isn’t being abused.

Make it a habit to check every few months and take action immediately if you spot anything suspicious. With cyber and mobile threats on the rise, digital vigilance is no longer optional it’s essential.
