Applying for a UAE passport is a straightforward process when all required documents are prepared in advance. This guide explains the procedure, necessary documents, fees, eligibility, and other key details to help you complete the process smoothly.


Step-by-Step Procedure

  1. Complete the Application Form
    • Visit any accredited typing center to fill in the passport application form.
  2. Pay the Applicable Fees
    • Make the payment at an Islamic bank (e.g., Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank) and obtain the payment sticker.
  3. Submit the Application
    • Take the printed application form along with all required documents to the Department of Citizenship and Personal Status.
  4. Receive Your Passport
    • Passports can be delivered via Empost (courier) or issued immediately if you have applied through the urgent service option.

Required Documents

  • Original completed application form
  • Original and copy of the Family Book
  • One recent passport-size photograph (white, gray, or light-blue background; straight position)
  • Original old passport (if applicable)
  • Emirates ID (mandatory, including for newborns)
  • Original payment sticker from Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank
  • Original Empost sticker (or proof of urgent service payment)

  • Lost or damaged passport replacement: AED 310
  • Bank service fee: AED 5
  • Urgent application surcharge: AED 100

Validity

  • A UAE passport is typically valid for 5 years from the date of issuance.

Processing Time

  • Regular applications: Delivered via Empost within standard processing timelines.
  • Urgent applications: Processed and delivered immediately at the department.

  • Ensure all documents are original (with copies where required).
  • Emirates ID must be issued for all applicants, including newborns.
  • Double-check payment stickers and courier receipts before submission.
