Overview

Originally known as Githunguri Dairy and Community Sacco, GDC Sacco is a dynamic, medium-sized deposit-taking Savings and Credit Co-operative Society based in Githunguri Town. Established in 2003 as a Back Office Service Activity (BOSA), it expanded to include Front Office Service Activity (FOSA) in 2006. With an asset base exceeding KES 4.25 billion, GDC Sacco ranks among Kenya’s leading deposit-taking Saccos, offering accessible financial services to a diverse membership.

Who Can Join?

GDC Sacco welcomes all Kenyan citizens, including:

  • Individuals
  • Groups, such as welfare organizations, corporates, schools, hospitals, and churches
  • Kenyans living in the diaspora

Membership Requirements

Membership requirements vary depending on the type of account.

Individual Account

  • Complete a personal account application form, available on the Sacco’s website or at any branch office
  • Submit a copy of a National ID or valid Kenyan passport
  • Provide a colored passport-size photograph
  • Pay a one-time registration fee of KES 500

Joint Account

  • Fill out a joint account application form, downloadable from the Sacco’s website
  • Include copies of National IDs or valid Kenyan passports for all applicants
  • Provide colored passport-size photographs for all applicants

Group Account

  • Complete a group account application form
  • Attach minutes from a group meeting resolving to join GDC Sacco
  • Submit a copy of the group’s constitution
  • Provide copies of IDs, passports, and photographs of authorized signatories
  • Include a copy of the group’s registration certificate

Diaspora Membership

  • Fill out an account opening form, ensuring regular contributions are feasible
  • Attach a copy of a National ID or passport
  • Submit a copy of a KRA PIN certificate
  • Provide a passport-size photograph
  • Comply with Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements, including an introduction by an existing member

How to Join

Prospective members can access application forms online at the GDC Sacco website or visit any branch to obtain physical copies. Completed forms, along with required documents and fees, should be submitted to the nearest branch or as directed by the Sacco.
