The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) does not reissue duplicate UACE certificates. However, candidates who lose or damage their certificates can obtain an Ordinary or Hard-Card Letter of Verification of Results, which serves as an official replacement. This verification letter confirms the authenticity of a candidate’s examination results and can be used in place of the original certificate.
Procedure
1. Apply Online (as an Individual)
To request a letter of verification from UNEB, follow these steps:
- Visit the official UNEB e-services portal.
- Click “Apply as Individual.”
- Read the guidelines and fill out the online form accurately.
- Upload all required documents as listed in the “Required Documents” section.
- Review the form, confirm the declaration checkbox, and click Submit to UNEB.
- UNEB will review your application and send a fee payment guideline via email or portal notification.
- Make payment using Airtel Money, MTN Mobile Money, or Bank Deposit.
- After payment confirmation, UNEB will issue the Letter of Verification via email or post within 10–15 days.

2. Apply Online (as a Non-Individual)
Institutions such as schools, universities, or employers can also apply online by:
- Visiting the UNEB e-services portal and clicking “Apply as Non-Individual.”
- Filling out the organization’s details and uploading the required documents.
- Submitting an Excel file with candidate details (use the accepted Excel template).
- Paying UGX 50,000 per candidate via the approved payment methods.
- Receiving the verification letters by email or post within 10–15 days.
3. Apply In-Person
Individuals who prefer physical submission can visit the Uganda National Examinations Board offices in Ntinda.
- Obtain an application form from the office.
- Fill in all required information correctly.
- Attach photocopies of all required documents.
- Pay the applicable fee at the designated bank or mobile money platform.
- Submit the completed application and payment receipt to the UNEB officer.
- Once verified, UNEB will process and issue the Letter of Verification within 10–15 working days.
Required Documents
For Individuals:
- Introduction letter from former school addressed to the Executive Secretary, UNEB
- Valid national ID or student identification
- Police report in case of loss or damage of certificate or slip
- Payment receipt for the applicable fee
- Authorization letter and ID of the candidate (if applying on someone’s behalf)
For Non-Individuals (Organizations):
- Official request letter addressed to the Executive Secretary, UNEB
- Excel sheet listing all candidates’ details (accepted UNEB format)
- Payment receipt confirming transaction
File Upload Requirements:
- Accepted formats: PDF, JPG, JPEG
- Maximum file size: 2MB per file
- Ensure images are clear and compressed before upload
Fees
- Ordinary Letter of Verification: UGX 50,000
- Hard-Card (Certificate Substitute): UGX 100,000
- Political/Special Verification Letter: UGX 300,000
Payments can be made via Airtel Money, MTN Mobile Money, or Bank Deposit following UNEB’s payment guidelines.
Eligibility
Any person who has sat for the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) and lost or damaged their result slip or certificate is eligible to apply for a Letter of Verification.
Processing Time
The Letter of Verification is typically issued within 10–15 working days from the date of submission, depending on document accuracy and payment confirmation.
Validity
The Letter of Verification of Results is valid indefinitely and can be used as a permanent substitute for the lost certificate.
