Overview
Established on April 10, 2019, under the Co-operative Societies Act (Cap 490), Defence Savings and Credit Society (DESACCO) was initiated by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) leadership to address the financial needs of military personnel. Designed to foster a savings culture and provide affordable, reliable credit, DESACCO aims to enhance the socio-economic well-being of its members through cooperative principles. Headquartered at Ulinzi House on Lenana Road, Hurlingham, Nairobi, the Sacco serves a dedicated community of military personnel and veterans.
Who Can Join?
DESACCO operates a closed membership bond, exclusively for:
- Serving KDF military personnel
- KDF veterans
Membership Requirements
To become a member of DESACCO, applicants must:
- Complete a membership application form, available for download, at pay offices, welfare offices, or through unit chief clerks
- Pay a one-time registration fee of KES 500
- Contribute a minimum monthly deposit of KES 3,000
- Maintain a share capital of KES 20,000
- Pay an account maintenance fee of KES 1,000 (applicable to Sharia accounts only)
- Contribute KES 300 to the sink fund
