A URA Account allows taxpayers in Uganda to access the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) eServices, including filing returns, registering motor vehicles, validating payments, and processing tax obligations online. It is mandatory for all taxpayers to have an account, whether individuals or non-individuals, for seamless access to URA’s digital tax systems.
How to Apply
Option 1: Apply In Person
- Visit a URA Office:
Go to the nearest Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) office and approach the customer help desk. Request for the URA account application form. - Fill the Form:
Read the instructions carefully and fill the form accurately. If you face any difficulty, ask for assistance from the URA staff. - Obtain a TIN Number (if you don’t have one):
If you don’t have a Tax Identification Number (TIN) or passcode, inform the officer. The URA official will help you generate one and send it to your registered email address. - Submit Your Application:
Hand over the filled form and required documents to the officer for verification. Your details will be entered into the URA system. - Receive Login Details:
Once your application is verified, URA will send your Login ID and password to your email within a few days. You can then log in to the URA portal and access all eServices.
Option 2: Apply Online
- Get a TIN Number:
Ensure you have an active TIN Number, which can be applied for free on the URA website or at any URA office. - Visit the URA Website:
Go to the URA Online Portal and click “Login / Create Account.” - Choose ‘Don’t Have Portal Account’:
Under “Need login assistance,” click “Don’t have portal account.” - Fill in the Application Details:
Provide your TIN, passcode, registration effective date, and other required information such as:- Full name
- Email address
- Residential address
- Submit and Confirm:
Review all details for accuracy, then click “Confirm.” A message will appear confirming that your Login ID and password will be emailed to you shortly. - Login to Your Account:
Once you receive your credentials, log in to the URA eServices Portal to start managing your taxes, payments, and registrations.
