Overview

Established in 1991 as Rukuriri Tea Growers Savings & Credit Cooperative Society under the Cooperative Societies Act (Cap 490), County Sacco initially served tea farmers linked to Rukuriri, Mungania, and Kathangariri tea factories. Rebranded as County Sacco to reflect its ambition to serve all Kenyan counties, it was licensed in 2011 by the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) as a deposit-taking institution. With an asset base of KES 0.68 billion, County Sacco is a prominent player in Kenya’s cooperative sector, headquartered at Kanja Market in Embu County.
