About Cosmopolitan SACCO

Formerly known as Nakuru Teachers SACCO, Cosmopolitan SACCO is a licensed deposit-taking SACCO that has been in operation since 1977. Initially formed to serve members of the teaching profession, it has since opened its doors to a broader membership base and now serves over 20,000 members across Kenya.

With an asset base exceeding Ksh 9.13 billion, Cosmopolitan SACCO stands out as one of the largest and most trusted SACCOs in the country.


Eligibility and Requirements to Join Cosmopolitan SACCO

To become a member of Cosmopolitan SACCO, you’ll need:

  • A fully completed membership application form
  • A copy of your National ID and KRA PIN
  • For salaried individuals, a copy of your payslip
  • A registration fee of Ksh 1,000
  • Monthly contributions as outlined below:

Cosmopolitan SACCO Loan Products

Cosmopolitan SACCO offers a wide range of credit products tailored to different financial needs:

1. Wezesha Loan

  • Based on two-thirds of salary
  • Only available to permanent employees of TSC, County & National Government
  • Repayment: up to 120 months
  • Secured by payslip

2. Ardhi Loan

  • Tenure: 10 years (salaried), 7 years (cash members)
  • Minimum 3 months of SACCO savings required

3. Cosmo Home Loan

  • Repayment period: 15 years (salaried), 10 years (cash)
  • Requires 1-year bank statement
  • House and land used as collateral

4. Development Loan

  • Up to 5 times member deposits, subject to the 2/3 salary rule
  • Repayment: 72 months

5. FOSA Loan

  • Up to 5 times deposits
  • Salary must pass through FOSA
  • Repayment: 48 months

6. Jijenge Loan

  • Up to 5 times deposits
  • All income must go through FOSA
  • Repayment: 48 months

7. Refinancing Loan

  • Given within the remaining repayment period of a major loan
  • Loan amount based on outstanding balance

8. Education Loan

  • Up to 5 times deposits
  • Repayment: 18 months
  • Subject to 2/3 rule

9. Emergency Loan

  • Up to 5 times deposits
  • Repayment: 12 months

10. Pensioner Loan

  • Up to 5 times deposits
  • Repayment: up to 120 months

11. Chama Loan

  • Up to 5 times group deposits
  • Repayment: 60 months
  • Group minutes and collateral required

12. Biashara Loan

  • Up to 4 times deposits
  • Collateral required

13. Salary Advance

  • Salary must be processed through FOSA
  • Repayment: 12 months

14. Salary-In-Advance

  • Salary processed through FOSA
  • Repayment: 1 month

15. Pension Advance

  • Pension salary through FOSA
  • Guaranteed by an active SACCO member

16. Fixed Deposit Advance

  • Requires a fixed deposit account
  • Loan limit: up to Ksh 300,000

17. Building Financing Loan

  • Repayment: 15 years (salaried), 10 years (cash)
  • Must present a one-year bank statement
