Connecting your Epson printer to WiFi lets you print wirelessly from your phone, laptop, or tablet without relying on cables. Whether you own an Epson EcoTank, Expression, or WorkForce model, the setup process is similar. This guide walks you through every step to connect your printer quickly and correctly.
Prepare the Printer and WiFi Network
Before setup, ensure your printer is powered on and placed near your WiFi router. Check that the network is stable and you have the correct SSID and password.
If your printer was previously connected to another network, reset the WiFi settings to avoid errors. On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup → Network Settings → Restore Default Settings, confirm the reset, and allow the printer to restart.
Connect Using the Printer’s Control Panel
For printers with a display screen:
- Press the Home button, then navigate to WiFi Setup.
- Choose WiFi Setup Wizard.
- Wait as the printer scans for available networks.
- Select your home WiFi name and press OK.
- Enter your WiFi password carefully using the navigation keys.
- Press OK or Proceed to connect.
If the process succeeds, you’ll see a confirmation such as “Connected Successfully.”
Connect Using the Epson Smart Panel App
If your printer lacks a display screen, use the Epson Smart Panel App on Android or iOS.
- Connect your smartphone to your WiFi network.
- Open the app and tap Set up a new printer.
- Follow the on-screen steps as the app detects your printer.
- Confirm the WiFi network and complete the setup.
Once connected, you can print, scan, and monitor ink levels directly from your phone.
Connect via WPS (WiFi Protected Setup)
If your router supports WPS, you can connect without typing a password.
- On the printer, go to WiFi Setup → Push Button Setup (WPS).
- When prompted, press and hold the WPS button on your router for about five seconds.
- Wait as the printer connects automatically.
A solid WiFi light on the printer indicates a successful connection.
Install Printer Software on Your Computer
Once your printer is on the WiFi network:
- Visit the Epson Support website.
- Search for your printer model.
- Download and install the latest drivers and software.
- During setup, choose Wireless Connection.
- Let the installer detect your printer automatically.
After installation, your computer will print wirelessly without needing USB cables.
Confirm the Connection
To check the setup:
- Print a Network Status Sheet via Setup → Network Settings → Print Status Sheet.
- Verify that the IP address matches your WiFi network.
- Print a test page from your phone or computer to confirm functionality.
Troubleshooting Connection Problems
If your printer doesn’t connect:
- Restart both the printer and WiFi router.
- Move the printer closer to the router.
- Recheck your WiFi password (it’s case-sensitive).
- Update firmware through Epson’s support page.
- Reset the network settings and repeat the connection process.
