About Pretata Institute of Professional Studies

The Pretata Institute of Professional Studies (PIPS) is a dynamic institution located on the third floor of the Gateway Plaza Mall in Thika. Its School of Medical and Health Sciences, though established relatively recently in January 2021, has quickly gained official accreditation from the Nursing Council of Kenya. This accreditation ensures that the three-year KRCHN program meets the national standards for training competent, knowledgeable, and skilled nursing professionals ready to serve their communities.

KRCHN Diploma Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the KRCHN program at Pretata Institute, applicants must meet the following criteria set by the Nursing Council of Kenya:

  • Be at least 17 years of age at the time of application.
  • Have achieved a minimum mean grade of C Plain in the KCSE examination (or its equivalent).
  • Attain the following specific subject grades:
    • English or Kiswahili: C Plain
    • Biology/Biological Sciences: C Plain
    • Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry/Physical Sciences: C- (Minus)

Understanding the KRCHN Program Fee Structure (2024)

The following breakdown provides a clear picture of the financial commitment for the three-year diploma. Please be aware that fees are subject to change, and we strongly advise contacting the institute directly for the most current and official payment policies.

First Trimester (Upon Admission):

  • Tuition Fees: Ksh 80,500
  • Admission Requirements (Uniform, Compulsory Books, etc.): Ksh 37,690
  • Total Due on Admission: Ksh 107,290

Subsequent Trimester Fees:

  • Second Trimester Tuition: Ksh 69,000
  • Third Trimester Tuition: Ksh 69,000

Additional Important Fees:

  • Nursing Council Indexing Fee: A mandatory fee of Ksh 9,400 is paid separately by the student directly to the Nursing Council of Kenya.

Accommodation Information:
While Pretata Institute does not have its own on-campus hostels, it has partnerships with several nearby accommodation facilities. These partner hostels offer rooms at a rate of approximately Ksh 6,500 per month, which typically includes meals.
