About Kitui Teachers SACCO

Established in 1976 by a group of 11 educators, Kitui Teachers SACCO was founded with a mission to provide its members with a platform for saving and accessing credit. While the SACCO was created in the 1970s, actual loan disbursement began in 1978.

Initially, membership was limited to teachers employed by the government. However, in 2008, the SACCO revised its by-laws to allow employees from various government ministries, agencies, and other organizations to join.

Today, Kitui Teachers SACCO has grown to serve over 20,000 active members and boasts an asset base of Ksh 8.82 billion, making it one of the region’s most established deposit-taking SACCOs.
