KWS Park Entry Fees in Kenya (2025): Updated Rates & List of Parks and Reserves

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) manages over 8% of the country’s total land area, overseeing a network of diverse conservation sites. This includes 22 national parks, 28 national reserves, 5 national sanctuaries, several marine parks, and special wildlife facilities such as orphanages and safari walks.

These natural attractions are open to the public year-round, offering unforgettable experiences from the peaks of Mount Kenya to the shores of the Indian Ocean. Below is a comprehensive breakdown of the KWS park entry fees applicable from January 2024 to December 2025, as well as an organized list of all major protected areas.

Fee Categories

  • Citizens: Kenyan nationals and East African citizens (Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi) with valid ID/passport
  • Residents: Foreign nationals with valid residency documents in Kenya
  • Non-Residents: Tourists and foreign visitors without Kenyan residency

1. Premium Parks – Amboseli & Lake Nakuru

High Season (July–March)

  • Citizens: Adult Ksh 1,000 | Child Ksh 500
  • Rest of Africa: Adult $50 | Child $20
  • Non-Residents: Adult $100 | Child $35

Low Season (April–June)

2. Urban Park – Nairobi National Park

Fees remain Ksh 2,000 for citizens year-round.

  • Rest of Africa: $50 (high), $25 (low)
  • Non-Residents: $100 (high), $100 (low)

3. Nairobi Combined Package

Includes Nairobi National Park, Safari Walk, and Orphanage

  • Citizens: Adult Ksh 2,250 | Child Ksh 650
  • Non-Residents: Adult $125 | Child $50

4. Wilderness Parks – Tsavo East & West

High Season

  • Citizens: Adult Ksh 500 | Child Ksh 250
  • Non-Residents: Adult $80 | Child $35

Low Season

  • Citizens: Adult Ksh 300 | Child Ksh 250
  • Non-Residents: Adult $35 | Child $20

5. Mount Kenya National Park (Climbing Packages)

Daily Entry – High Season

  • Citizens: Ksh 500
  • Non-Residents: $60
    2 to 6-day Climbing Packages available ranging from:
  • Citizens: Ksh 1,200 – 3,800
  • Non-Residents: $140 – $440

Low Season Rates apply accordingly (typically 25–40% lower)


6. Scenic Parks – Hell’s Gate, Mt. Elgon, Mt. Longonot, Ol Donyo Sabuk

  • Citizens: Ksh 400 (high), Ksh 300 (low)
  • Non-Residents: $30 (high), $20 (low)

7. Special Interest Parks & Reserves

Including: Marsabit, Sibiloi, Kakamega, Shimba Hills, Lake Elementaita

9. Marine Protected Areas – Kisite, Watamu, Mombasa, Malindi

  • Citizens: Ksh 300 (high), Ksh 200 (low)
  • Non-Residents: $25 (high), $20 (low)
