In-Person Application Procedure

  1. Visit NEMA Office
    • To apply for the permit, visit the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) office. The application form can be obtained at the office or via their official website.
  2. Complete the Application Form
    • Fill out the Hydraulic Construction Permit application form. Ensure all information is accurate and complete, as incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  3. Attach Required Documents
    • Include all required documents, such as:
      • Approval/Disapproval of District Environment Committee
      • Map and detailed information of the area affected by the proposed activity
      • Comments from LC 1 Secretary for Production and Environment Protection
      • Executive Summary of the Environmental Impact Statement (if necessary)
      • Any other documents as requested by NEMA
  4. Pay the Application Fee
    • There is no application fee for the permit, but a license fee of UGX 500,000 is required. Submit the payment receipt along with your application documents.
  5. Application Review and Site Inspection
    • After submission, NEMA will review the application. A site inspection may be conducted to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  6. Approval and Permit Issuance
    • If everything is in order, NEMA will issue the Hydraulic Construction Permit. You will be notified to collect the permit at the NEMA office. Bring your identification documents when picking up your permit.
  7. Processing Time
    • The maximum processing time for the permit is 14 days.

  • Application Fee: None
  • License Fee: UGX 500,000
  • Renewal Fee: UGX 500,000

Permit Validity

  • The Hydraulic Construction Permit is valid for 2 years, after which it can be renewed for another 2-year period.
