Home to over 1.2 million residents and renowned for its tourism landmarks—such as Fort Jesus and Jomo Kenyatta Public Beach—it is also the administrative heart of Mombasa County, led by Governor Ali Hassan Joho. Predominantly inhabited by the Swahili community, the city features a variety of residential areas, each with its own character, standard of living, and challenges.
