Managing Your KPLC Postpaid Bill Is Easier Than Ever

Missing your electricity bill due date no longer means scrambling or visiting a KPLC office. Today, you can check your Kenya Power (KPLC) postpaid balance instantly using one of these methods:

  • KPLC self-service online portal — free with internet access
  • USSD code *977# — charges Ksh 10 per request (Safaricom only)
  • SMS to 97771 — small SMS charges apply

1. Use the KPLC Online Self-Service Portal (Free)

This is the fastest and most cost-effective way to check your bill, offering real-time balance and billing details.

  1. Visit the KPLC self-service portal at selfservice.kplc.co.ke
  2. Click on “Bill / Token Query.”
  3. Select “Account Number” as your search option, and enter your postpaid account number.
  4. Click “Search.”
  5. Your account status and current balance will be displayed instantly. 

2. Check Your Bill via USSD: *977#

This method works on Safaricom lines only and is ideal if you have no internet connection.

Steps (charge: Ksh 10 per request):

  1. Dial *977# from your Safaricom line.
  2. Select Postpaid Services, then My Bill.
  3. If needed, add or choose your account number.
  4. Confirm the prompt to proceed.
  5. Within seconds, you’ll receive an SMS with the billing details. 

3. Receive Your Bill via SMS

A quick SMS option if you prefer messaging:

  1. Open your messaging app and type your account number (first part only; ignore suffix).
  2. Send it to 97771.
  3. In a few moments, KPLC will reply with your current bill balance.

  • Email Request: Send a blank email with your account number as the subject to [email protected], and you’ll receive your bill details in your inbox.
  • MyPower Mobile App: Available on Android and iPhone, this app provides bill alerts, payment options, outage reports, and more. Search for “MyPower Kenya Power” in your app store.
