2025 KCSE Results Portal Activated: What You Need to Know

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has activated the portal for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, but don’t get too excited just yet. Right now, you’ll find that the portal is working perfectly fine, but there are no results available. Instead, a polite message explains that provisional results will only appear after the official release.

This move is part of KNEC’s preparation for the massive traffic surge expected when the results are finally released. Nearly a million candidates took the 2025 KCSE exams, and when results are announced, it’s expected that students, parents, teachers, and even the wider public will simultaneously try to access the portal, potentially overwhelming the system.

By turning on the portal early, KNEC’s IT team can test the infrastructure, identify bugs, and ensure the servers can handle the pressure when the results go live.

Recently, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba had to shut down rumors claiming that results were already out and certain schools had topped nationally. He referred to these rumors as “fake and misleading news,” urging the public to disregard them.

Results are expected to be officially announced within the first two weeks of January, in line with KNEC’s usual schedule. The exams wrapped up on November 21, 2025, and marking was completed by December 13, with over 32,000 examiners working across 40 centers.

When the 2025 KCSE results do become available, you’ll be able to check them by entering your index number and exam year on the portal, sending an SMS to 20076, or visiting your school for the results.

These results are crucial as they determine student placement into universities and tertiary institutions under Kenya’s 100% transition policy.
