Discover Bamburi Haller Park: Mombasa’s Ecological Gem

Located along the scenic Mombasa-Malindi Road in Majengo, Bamburi Haller Park stands as a remarkable example of environmental restoration. Established in 1971 by Lafarge Eco Systems (a Bamburi Cement subsidiary), this nature park transformed an abandoned quarry into a thriving ecosystem that welcomes nature enthusiasts and educational groups year-round.

Wildlife and Attractions

The park shelters diverse species including:

  • Hippos and crocodiles
  • Giraffes and buffalos
  • The giant Aldabra tortoise
  • Over 16 butterfly species in the specialized Butterfly Pavilion (established 1998)
  • Various bird species and antelopes (Oryx and Elands)

This biodiversity haven demonstrates successful ecological rehabilitation while offering visitors unforgettable wildlife encounters.
