Overview
Established on June 2, 1977, with an initial membership of 163 teachers, Ecopillar Sacco has grown into one of Kenya’s leading deposit-taking Savings and Credit Co-operative Societies, boasting an asset base of KES 1.35 billion. Originally focused on educators, the Sacco now serves a diverse community, empowering members through improved living standards, asset acquisition, education funding, development projects, and economic growth. Headquartered at Teachers Plaza, 1st Floor, Makutano Town, Kapenguria, Ecopillar Sacco also operates a branch in Lodwar.
Who Can Join?
Ecopillar Sacco offers membership across three categories:
Class A Members
- Teachers employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
- Employees of all government ministries
- County government staff
- Office of the President (OOP) employees
- Members of the disciplined forces
Class B Members
- Ecopillar Sacco staff
- Civil servants
- State corporation employees
- Staff of sister organizations
- Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) members
- Board of Management (BOM) interns
Class C Members
- Business owners
- Traders
- Farmers
- Self-employed individuals

Membership Requirements
To join Ecopillar Sacco, applicants must:
- Complete a membership application form, available on the Sacco’s website or at its offices
- Submit a copy of a National ID
- Provide one passport-size photograph
- Include a current payslip (for members using the check-off system)
- Fill out a nominee form
- Contribute a minimum monthly deposit of KES 2,000
- Pay KES 200 monthly to the welfare fund, which supports funeral expenses for the member, their spouse, children, and biological parents
- Provide a copy of a KRA PIN certificate
There is no entrance fee, making membership accessible to all eligible applicants.
