Vivo has officially confirmed the global rollout of OriginOS 6, marking the end of Funtouch OS for international markets. This new operating system, based on Android 16, will debut with the Vivo X300 and X300 Pro before expanding to other flagship and mid-range devices in the upcoming months.
With OriginOS 6, Vivo unifies its software ecosystem worldwide, bringing the sleek, animation-rich experience that was previously exclusive to China to users everywhere.
From Funtouch to OriginOS
For years, Vivo shipped two distinct Android skins: Funtouch OS for global markets and OriginOS for China. Funtouch OS focused on simplicity, stability, and compatibility with Google services, while OriginOS took a more dynamic approach with visually rich animations, interactive widgets, and deep customization options.
Now, with the launch of OriginOS 6, Vivo is retiring Funtouch OS and standardizing its software experience across the globe. This global rollout aims to bring the same modern design and powerful performance enhancements to international users that Chinese users have enjoyed since 2020.
What’s New in OriginOS 6
Vivo designed OriginOS 6 around three key pillars: speed, smoothness, and visual fluidity. The OS introduces a new animation engine that enhances frame-rate stability and responsiveness during app launches and multitasking. Cold-start times are reduced, and data loading is faster, thanks to the revamped Origin Smooth Engine, which optimizes CPU, storage, and display performance.
The interface has also been redesigned with Origin Design, a refined system featuring soft colors, translucent layers, and adaptive motion effects. A new feature called Origin Island provides live updates, contextual suggestions, and notifications in a pill-shaped floating module, reminiscent of Apple’s Dynamic Island.
Beyond visual and speed improvements, OriginOS 6 integrates Vivo’s latest AI innovations, including:
-
AI Erase
-
AI Photo Enhance
-
Smart Call Assistant
-
DocMaster
These tools automate photo editing, document organization, and contextual tasks, enhancing the user experience. Vivo has also partnered with Google AI to bolster on-device intelligence while ensuring user data privacy and security.
Rollout Timeline and Eligible Devices
The global rollout of OriginOS 6 begins in November 2025, starting with the Vivo X300, X300 Pro, X Fold 5, X 200 series, iQOO 13, and iQOO Neo 10 series. Additional devices, including mid-range and older Vivo and iQOO phones, will gradually receive the update through 2026.
Vivo confirms that updates will be distributed via OTA (over-the-air) in phases, with distribution depending on the region and model.

Aedle VK-1
A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine. Gregor then turned to look out the window at the dull weather. Drops of rain could be heard hitting the pane, which made him feel quite sad.
