Founded in 1972 by civil servants from the Department of Social Services, Jamii Sacco is a prominent deposit-taking Savings and Credit Co-operative Society in Kenya. With an asset base of KES 5.44 billion, it ranks among the country’s largest Saccos. Jamii Sacco is committed to mobilizing savings and providing innovative credit solutions to deliver optimal returns and an exceptional member experience. Its head office is located at Jamii Sacco Court on Mukenia Road in South B, Nairobi, next to Mater Hospital.

Who Can Join?

Jamii Sacco welcomes members from diverse sectors, including:

  • Public service employees
  • Staff of government ministries and parastatals (e.g., Kenya National Library, Women Enterprise Fund)
  • Jamii Sacco employees
  • Workers in private companies and NGOs
  • Self-employed individuals
  • Registered self-help groups and community-based organizations

Membership Requirements

To join Jamii Sacco, applicants must:

  • Complete a membership application form, available on the Sacco’s website, at its offices, or through county delegates.
  • Provide an original and copy of a National ID.
  • Submit a copy of a KRA PIN certificate.
  • Pay a one-time entrance fee of KES 1,000.
  • Contribute a minimum monthly amount of KES 3,300 (including KES 300 for the Jamii Benevolent Fund).
  • Build a minimum share capital of KES 20,000, payable in monthly installments of KES 500.
