Established in 1975, Bandari SACCO has grown to become one of Kenya’s leading deposit-taking SACCOs, boasting an asset base of over Ksh 12 billion and serving more than 18,000 members. Who is Eligible to Join Bandari SACCO?

Membership is open to any Kenyan who meets the basic registration requirements. Whether you’re an individual, business, group, or organization, you can become a member by completing the necessary application forms and providing valid identification documents such as a copy of your national ID and a recent passport-sized photo.


Membership Structure

To become an active member of Bandari SACCO, the following components are essential:

1. Share Capital

This is a compulsory investment for all members.

  • Minimum investment: Ksh 10,500.
  • Contributions can be made in a lump sum or through monthly installments (subject to SACCO approval).
  • Share capital earns annual dividends but is non-refundable upon withdrawal of membership.

2. Non-Withdrawable Deposits

These monthly contributions form part of your active membership status.

  • Minimum contribution: Ksh 1,500 per month or Ksh 50 per day.
  • Withdrawals are only allowed upon formal resignation and a 60-day notice period.
  • These deposits act as collateral when applying for loans.

3. Ordinary Savings Account

This is the operational account used for deposits and daily transactions.

  • Funds can be transferred to deposit and share capital accounts.
  • Comes with access to mobile banking, ATM, USSD services, and internet banking.
  • Compatible with Paybill payments for convenient deposits.

Account Opening Requirements

Depending on your status—individual, group, or business—the following documents are required when opening an account:

1. Personal Savings Account

  • Copy of National ID
  • Completed account opening form
  • Passport-sized photograph

2. Group / Chama Account

  • Certificate of registration
  • Group constitution
  • Official minutes stating the intention to open an account with Bandari SACCO
  • ID copies of the group’s officials
  • Member register with names, ID numbers, contact details, and signatures
  • Photos of officials will be taken at the SACCO during registration

3. Sole Proprietor Account

  • National ID
  • KRA PIN
  • Business registration certificate

4. DAU Junior Savings Account

  • Parent or guardian’s ID
  • Child’s birth certificate
  • Completed junior account application form
  • Parent/guardian must already hold an account with Bandari SACCO

5. Limited Company Account

  • Certificate of incorporation
  • Company KRA PIN
  • Directors’ ID copies and KRA PINs
  • Board resolution (on company letterhead, sealed)
  • Memorandum and Articles of Association

6. Society / Club Account

  • Registration certificate
  • Board resolution minutes
  • Authorized signatories’ ID copies and photos
  • Clear signing mandate
