Procedure

Apply In-Person:
To obtain a Tour Guide Certificate or License in Namibia, applicants must visit the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism.

  1. Approach the Department of Tourism office and request an application form.
  2. Complete the form carefully — incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  3. Attach all required documents listed in the “Required Documents” section.
  4. Submit the completed form along with photocopies of the supporting documents.
  5. Pay the prescribed fee as directed by the authority.
  6. The department will verify all details and may request additional information if necessary.
  7. Once the application is approved, the applicant must undergo a tour guide training course covering local history, culture, guiding techniques, and first aid.
  8. Upon completing the training, applicants must pass an examination to qualify for certification.
  9. Successful applicants will receive their Tour Guide Certificate or License, allowing them to legally operate as professional guides in Namibia.

This process typically takes 30–45 days, depending on application completeness and departmental schedules.

  • Meet educational or training requirements set by the authority.
  • Demonstrate language proficiency if providing tours in a non-native language.

Fees

Applicants must pay the prescribed fee as set by the Department of Tourism when submitting the form.
