Overview

Founded on August 8, 1991, under the Ministry of Co-operative Development and Marketing, Kenya Highlands Sacco Society, originally known as Kericho Tea Growers Sacco, is a prominent deposit-taking Savings and Credit Co-operative Society. With an asset base of KES 3.95 billion and a membership exceeding 120,000, the Sacco is dedicated to enhancing members’ quality of life through accessible financial products and services. It operates both Front Office Service Activity (FOSA) and Back Office Service Activity (BOSA) from its head office at Kapsoit Trading Centre along the Kericho-Kisumu Highway.

Who Can Join?

Kenya Highlands Sacco welcomes a diverse membership, including:

  • Tea farmers
  • Dairy farmers
  • Sugarcane farmers
  • Coffee farmers
  • Micro groups, such as chamas
  • Employees of public and private companies
  • Sacco staff and their immediate family members

Membership is open to individuals and groups from all sectors who share the Sacco’s commitment to financial empowerment.

Membership Requirements

To join Kenya Highlands Sacco, applicants must:

  • Provide a copy of a National ID
  • Pay a one-time registration fee of KES 150
  • Demonstrate good character and sound judgment
  • Not engage in unauthorized money lending, cash collection, or activities contrary to the Sacco’s objectives
  • Commit to participating in a regular savings program

Member Rights

As a member of Kenya Highlands Sacco, you are entitled to:

  • Vote or run for leadership positions within the Sacco, subject to applicable laws and by-laws
  • Attend and contribute to decision-making at zonal meetings
  • Access Sacco services in line with approved policies
  • Propose projects or initiatives to the board to enhance financial services
  • Access legitimate information about the Sacco’s operations
  • Receive an annual statement of accounts detailing personal credit and debit transactions, with additional requests available for a fee
  • Enjoy other rights as outlined in relevant acts and rules
