Established in 2021 and approved by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK), the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital Training Institute for Specialized Nursing (KUTRRH-TISN) offers advanced nursing programs designed to develop specialized healthcare professionals.

Academic Programs

The institute currently offers 1-year full-time Higher Diploma programs in four specialized nursing fields:

Kenya Registered Oncology Nursing (KRON)
Kenya Registered Critical Care Nursing (KRCCN)
Kenya Registered Nephrology Nursing (KRNN)
Kenya Registered Peri-Operative Nursing (KRPON)

Admission Requirements

To qualify for any specialized nursing program, applicants must:

Hold registration as a nurse (BScN, KRN/Midwifery, or KRCHN) recognized by NCK
Possess a minimum of 1 year post-registration clinical experience
Provide a valid nursing practicing license
Submit all required academic and professional certificates

Fees do not include accommodation or living expenses
All students must have valid NHIF or equivalent medical insurance
Hepatitis B vaccination is mandatory before enrollment
International students pay 20% additional fees
