National ID replacement to cost Sh2,000 from Sh100 and Sh1,000 for a not previously registered ID, Interior CS Kindiki says

Kenyans will have to dig deeper into their pockets to afford basic travel identity and travel documents The changes were announced through a gazette notice dated Monday, November 6, signed by Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki Kenyans will pay KSh 7,500 to get the 34-page passport and KSh 1,000 to register for a national identity card.

According to the notice, the Ministry of Interior and National Administration has delegated powers from the National Treasury and Economic Planning to revise service fees. “It is notified for the general information of the public that pursuant to Regulation 60 of the Public Finance Management (National Government) Regulations, 2015, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning has granted to the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration the Authority for the State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services to revise charges and levies on its services as shown in the schedule below…” read the notice.
