How to Apply for a Driving Instructor License in Kenya

  1. Visit the NTSA website and sign in to the self-service portal. If it’s your first time, you’ll need to register an account on TIMS.
  2. Navigate to the ‘Driving License’ option in the menu bar.
  3. Choose ‘Apply for Driving Instructor License’ from the menu.
  4. Complete the Driving Instructor License application form with accurate details and upload scanned copies of all required documents as listed on the site. Review the information for accuracy.
  5. Proceed to the payment page by clicking ‘Next’.
  6. The page will display the license fee, which is Kshs 1,050, along with convenience charges.
  7. Select your preferred payment method, either Mpesa or bank, and complete the payment.
  8. Print out the payment invoice after payment completion.
  9. Click ‘Submit’ to process the application.
  10. You’ll receive an SMS notification once your driving instructor license is ready for collection.
  11. Upon notification, visit the NTSA offices as instructed, bringing your National ID and invoice printout. NTSA officials will verify your documents and issue the Driving Instructor License.
